In 2003, I was 20 years old and working as a library clerk at major daily newspaper The Edmonton Sun when an editor took note of my blue hair and leather jacket and asked if I wanted to write about bands.

I wound up with a long-running weekly music column, penning features and reviewing records and shows. Today, I’m a full-time freelance writer and editor.

During my 14 years as a writer I’ve honed my abilities and become an expert at putting together feature stories, writing well-thought-out reviews, and conducting interviews. My career has afforded me some memorable moments, including a long telephone chat with Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits (a childhood favourite), reviewing a music festival at CBGB, and having a girly sleepover in one of Canada’s most haunted places which also happens to be a death-row jail cell.

My areas of expertise have grown, and nowadays I specialize in travel, lifestyle, and business. My home base in Vancouver, and I travel frequently worldwide.

I completed an editorial internship with Venture Publishing in 2011, working on business magazine Alberta Venture and the company’s large portfolio of contract magazines. Since then I’ve primarily worked as a freelance editor, completing over 4,500 projects for a client base that stretches across the globe.

Editing

After completing an editorial internship with business magazine Alberta Venture in 2011, I went on to freelance as a well-rounded editor specializing in copy editing and proofreading. Today, I’m a top-rated editor on Fiverr, with 99.5 percent positive feedback and nearly 5,000 orders delivered since 2013. My editing service even earned me a mention in Time magazine.

I spent a few years as copy editor of Positive Living magazine, and am a former section editor with the University of British Columbia’s radio station magazine, Discorder.

I’m highly experienced in all kinds of editing work, and have completed projects ranging from rewording website content for international companies into native-level English, to editing novels from start to finish, to polishing blog posts and business content. I love working with new clients, so please get in touch with me to discuss your project.
